Central Cordoba vs Lanus
CA Central Cordoba succumbed to a huge blow last Monday, when they lost away at direct contenders Godoy Cruz 1-0 in a hard-fought game. Following that result, they are now only three points above the first relegation spot in the respective table, occupied by their last opponents. El Ferroviario lost three of their last six league matches (one victory and two draws), including the last two to remain on 14 points. Furthermore, Sergio Rondina’s men are on five home matches without a win, drawing two and losing three. On a positive note, striker Renzo Lopez is ready to return from suspension.
Thanks to Angel Gonzalez’s goal in stoppage time, Lanus’ alternative XI managed a highly-celebrated 1-0 home success over Independiente last weekend. As a result, Jorge Almiron’s men are improving a poor campaign: they have been unbeaten in the last four league games (two victories and two draws) to make it 14 points. On a sorry note, El Granate have been weak on away turf lately, at least in this competition: they are winless in the last nine, having drawn three and lost six since beating Argentinos Juniors in October. Even though it’s the last round, Central Cordoba can’t afford to lose due to their position in the relegation table, and they will face this irregular and unpredictable Lanus so even though I think the hosts should win it, I’m going with the OVER as I can see both teams scoring.
