Coach Gustavo Coleoni left CA Central Cordoba following five winless games in the top flight (two draws and three losses). The 2-1 home defeat to Newell’s Old Boys dropped them into the relegation zone. At home, the side earned a single point from the last nine. Coach Alfredo Berti arrived alongside 19 reinforcements.
In spite of having won their last two matches, Independiente finished 2019/20 in 13th in the aggregate table and couldn’t qualify for any continental competitions. On away turf, they managed only two points in their last four domestic games.
On Thursday 29, they beat Atletico Tucuman 1-0 at home in the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana’s round-of-32. Coach Lucas Pusineri will pick a completely alternative XI in view of next Thursday’s international commitment. Only goalkeeper Sebastian Sosa will stay and midfielder Juan Pacchini will make his debut.
Even though Central Cordoba is not exactly a reliable team, they’ve made a few interesting transfers during winter that should improve them. Independiente was nothing special during their midweek 1-0 win and I can’t see them being any better with an alternative lineup.
