Central Cordoba vs Boca
CA Central Cordoba secured a massive victory in their struggle to avoid relegation last Wednesday, when beating Sarmiento 1-0 away thanks to a strike from Brian Farioli in the first half. El Ferroviario made it two consecutive successes in the Copa Liga Profesional to make it six points and open a four-point gap over the drop place in the aggregate table, occupied by Huracan at the moment. Central beat Platense 3-2 in their last home match to break a two-game losing streak as the hosting side.
Boca Juniors are struggling in the Copa Liga Profesional at the moment. Last Friday, the team were dominated from beginning to end and succumbed to a deserved 1-0 away loss at Defensa y Justicia. That result represented their third consecutive defeat in league action without even scoring and means they remain on three points, staying out of the Copa Libertadores spots in the aggregate table, and trailing their last opponents (who are sitting in fourth) by three. Boca also are on two consecutive losses on the road in domestic action. Midfielder Guillermo Fernandez will rest. Coach Jorge Almiron will pick an alternative XI: only Cristian Medina and Edinson Cavani will stay.
Boca will use a reserves lineup with only 2 starters because next week they play the Copa Libertadores semifinals and the Superclasico against River, so while Central Cordoba is not a reliable team this Boca is capable of losing against anyone.
