Central Cordoba vs Atletico Tucuman
CA Central Cordoba are now going through a poor spell in the Liga Profesional. On Monday, the team succumbed to a fair 3-1 away defeat to Racing Club, a disappointing result that means El Ferroviario are now on three losses in a row in league action. That negative streak dropped them down to the 20th spot of the league table on 29 points, just seven above the relegation spot, occupied by Huracan. In fact, Central lost 1-0 to Independiente in their last home match after three games unbeaten as the hosting side (two victories and one draw).
Atletico Tucuman are clearly going through their best moment of form in 2023. Last Sunday, the team secured a vital 1-0 home victory over Independiente in a hard-fought match thanks to a penalty netted by Marcelo Estigarribia in the first half. Unbeaten in their last five league matches (four successes and one draw without even conceding), El Decano accumulated 34 points in the Liga Profesional, escaping from relegation threats and approaching the continental spots: they are now trailing the last Copa Sudamericana berth by four. On a sorry note, Atletico won only one of their last six away games, drawing two and losing three. Playmaker Joaquin Pereyra returns from suspension on Saturday.
Atletico are not exactly reliable when playing away but they are in better form that Central Cordoba and should be able to finish the tournament with at least a draw here.
