Argentine Primera Division: Boca vs Tigre Odds for May 22, 2022

Boca vs Tigre

Boca Juniors are one step away from another national title (their last one in league action was the 2020 Copa Maradona, lifted in January 2021). Last weekend, El Xeneize won on penalties over Racing Club following a scoreless draw at Lanus even though they were dominated from beginning to end. As a result, Sebastian Battaglia’s men also made it 11 league games unbeaten, with six victories and five draws in regular time since March 5th, when they lost 1-0 to Huracan at home. On Tuesday, Boca drew 1-1 at home against Corinthians from Brazil in a Copa Libertadores group game.

Tigre also had to wait until the penalty shootout to knock out Argentinos Juniors in the semi-finals following a 1-1 draw at Lanus last Sunday. El Matador look for their second national title (they were champions in the Copa Superliga 2019, beating Boca Juniors in the final, also in Cordoba) and, in the event of winning, they will be the second newly-promoted team to become Argentinian champions in history (after Rosario Central in 1987).

This is the League Cup final that will be played in neutral ground. Both arrive in full confidence, specially Tigre after winning at River a week ago, and I expect them to learn from the mistakes they made a couple of weeks ago when they lost against this same rival. Pressure will be on Boca and a focused Tigre could make it a tough and balanced game.
