Boca vs Talleres
Boca Juniors are facing a mini crisis at the moment. Last time out, the team suffered a 2-1 away defeat at San Lorenzo in the context of interim boss Hugo Ibarra’s debut. That result represented their third consecutive defeat in the Liga Profesional (alongside their recent elimination of the Copa Libertadores in the round of 16). The defending champions remain on nine points in seven matches in the league and also have lost their last two at home (to Union Santa Fe and Banfied).
While advancing in the Copa Libertadores, Talleres continue to struggle in the league. Last Saturday, coach Pedro Caixinha fielded an alternative XI and his team ended up losing 2-0 to newcomers Barracas Central at home. As a result, La T are on six league games without a win, drawing two and losing four, and remain on five points after seven rounds. Furthermore, they continue occupying the bottom spot in the 2022 aggregate table. To make matters worse, Talleres haven’t claimed any victories in their last ten away matches in domestic action, having drawn three and lost seven in that time.
Boca has one of the worst defenses so far in this league with 13 goals conceded, but also a top 3 attack with 12 goals scored so despite the crisis they are going through I have to expect at least a couple of goals here.
