Boca vs River

Boca Juniors are slightly entering the fight for the title. Last Sunday, despite playing without several of their usual starters, the team managed to beat Colon 2-1 away thanks to goals from Norberto Briasco and Luca Langoni. Therefore, El Xeneize are on six league matches unbeaten (four victories and two draws) and made it 29 points, only four points behind Atletico Tucuman and Gimnasia LP at the top of the table. Boca also are on five home games without defeat in domestic action, having grabbed 13 points from 15 on offer in that time.

River Plate also come off a solid win. Last weekend, the side found it quite easy to beat newly-promoted side Barracas Central 2-0 at home with Nicolas De la Cruz and Miguel Borja scoring. As a result, Marcelo Gallardo’s men made it six league games without defeat, winning four and drawing two as well as their arch-rivals. They also accumulated 29 points, trailing leaders by four, and continue occupying one of the Copa Libertadores places in the aggregate rankings. On the road, River are on five games unbeaten in the league (two wins and three draws).

Even if River is in better form they are still not the team they used to be, and despite Boca missing a couple of important players this is the Superclasico, they are at home and I can’t see them as such big underdogs.
