Boca vs Godoy Cruz

Boca Juniors are clearly living one of their worst seasons in the 21st century. Last Sunday, the team succumbed to an unexpected 1-0 away at Lanus following a poor performance, which means El Xeneize are without a win in their last three in this competition, drawing one and losing two. Following that streak, they remain on 25 points in the Liga Profesional, which keeps them seven points behind the last Copa Sudamericana berth in the aggregate table. Boca lost only one of their last 19 home matches in domestic action, winning 12 and drawing six. Guillermo Fernandez has served his one-game suspension and is available.

Godoy Cruz fans will have felt frustrated last Thursday, when the team couldn’t hold onto their lead and ended up drawing 1-1 against Atletico Tucuman at home. However, El Tomba were able to extend their unbeaten run to six league games, winning two and drawing four to make it 28 points in the Liga Profesional. That campaign is enough for them to stay occupying one of the Copa Libertadores berths in the aggregate table. Daniel Oldra’s men lost only one of their last five as the visiting side (two victories and two draws). Winger Facundo Altamira remains sidelined. Coach Daniel Oldra would repeat the XI.

Boca are playing terribly lately. They looked completely clueless last weekend vs Lanus and although they’ve been better at home, a game against this tough Godoy Cruz should be a big challenge for them so I’ll take the visitors here.
