Boca Juniors’ away game at Gimnasia LP last Thursday was suspended due to police repression against the fans. The team come off a 1-0 home success over Velez Sarsfield last Sunday, which allowed them to make it 11 league games unbeaten (winning eight and drawing three). Accumulating 42 points in the Liga Profesional, El Xeneize are now two points behind leaders Atletico Tucuman (obviously, with one game in hand). Boca have been unbeaten in their last eight home matches in this competition, winning six and drawing two since a 3-0 loss to Banfield on July 1st.
Aldosivi don’t want to give up on their fight to stay in the top flight. Last Tuesday, the team secured a massive 2-0 home success over Barracas Central thanks to goals from Martin Cauteruccio and Tomas Martinez, which allowed them to break an eight-game winless streak of two draws and six defeats in league action. El Tiburon made it 16 points in the Liga Profesional, still bottom in the league table and occupying one of the relegation spots in the respective rankings (seven points behind Sarandi Arsenal, who are safe). Aldosivi have been winless in their last six away games, drawing two and losing four in that spell without even scoring.
Can’t imagine how Boca would fail to win comfortably a game against an Aldosivi that are mentally relegated even if they have a remote mathematical chance.
