Boca – Union

Boca Juniors showed a great display of football last Sunday, when they found it easy to beat Barracas Central 3-1 away at All Boys. The defending champions keep their standards up in the Liga Profesional: they made it nine points in four games (one behind leaders). In fact, El Xeneize lost one of their last 16 league games, winning ten and drawing five in that spell. At home, Sebastian Battaglia’s men are on seven league matches unbeaten, having won the last four and drawn three. Winger Eduardo Salvio overcame his muscle issues and is available.

Union Santa Fe succumbed to a heavy blow last Sunday, when the team were thrashed by River Plate 5-1 at home. That result represented their seventh defeat across the last nine league matches (along with one victory and one draw). Gustavo Munua’s men remain on four points in as many matches in the Liga Profesional, which places them out of the continental fight at the moment.

Both teams will use a lot of reserves because next week they play important Copa Libertadores/Sudamericana games, but Boca is definitely the team with the deepest rotation and more talented reserves so I expect them to continue with their good run and win at home.
