Belgrano vs Rosario Central
Belgrano are now going through difficult times. Last Saturday, the team were dominated from beginning to end and succumbed to a worrying 4-0 away defeat at Estudiantes. Therefore, El Pirata made it five league games without a win, taking a single point from 15 on offer in that stretch. That negative run dropped down to the 13th spot of the Liga Profesional table on 35 points, still safe from relegation threats though. To make matters worse, Belgrano are on two losses in a row at home without even scoring (to Barracas Central 2-0 and San Lorenzo 1-0). Centre back Erik Godoy is suspended for Friday after seeing a red card at Estudiantes.
Rosario Central wasted a big chance of climbing positions in the league table last Sunday following their 3-3 home stalemate against River Plate’s alternative XI, conceding the equaliser in the seventh minute of stoppage time. In the context of a good campaign, El Canalla are going through an irregular spell: they registered five draws across their last eight matches in this competition, alongside two victories and one loss. As a result, Miguel Russo’s men made it 41 points, trailing Defensa y Justicia (who occupy the last Copa Libertadores berth) by three.
Belgrano are finding trouble to get points but also to score, and they should suffer against this solid Rosario Central that comes from playing a solid game against the champions.
