Belgrano vs Defensa y Justicia

Belgrano had a rough night last Sunday, when they were unable to stop Boca Juniors’ offensive power and ended up losing 3-2 on away turf. That result means El Pirata remain on six points after eight Copa Liga Profesional matches, only three above the bottom spot in the aggregate table. Guillermo Farre’s men celebrated a single win across their last ten league matches, drawing three and losing six in that spell. On a positive note, Belgrano secured all those five points at home (winning one, drawing two and losing one at Estadio Julio Cesar Villagra so far).

Defensa y Justicia played their worst match in 2024 last time out, which resulted in an unexpected 4-0 home defeat to Lanus following a terrible performance. That result put an end to their six-match unbeaten streak of three victories and three draws in Copa Liga Profesional action (now it’s three without a win, taking just two points in that spell) and prevented El Halcon from climbing into one of the playoff spots in group B as they now remain on 12 points, trailing fourth-placed Racing Club by two. On a positive note, Defensa grabbed seven points from the last nine on offer as the visiting side.

Defensa are playing worse every week after a good start, they looked tired last weekend in the 0-4 defeat vs Lanus and since they have another game on Sunday, their coach will rotate and rest some starters here. Belgrano played a decent game in the 2-3 defeat vs Boca and this could be a good spot for them to finally get another win in the context of a poor season for them.
