Belgrano vs Barracas Central

In the context of an excellent campaign, Belgrano are now finding trouble to overcome an irregular spell. On Sunday, they showed a poor version and returned home empty-handed after a 1-0 away loss to Instituto in a thrilling derby. El Pirata succumbed to their fourth defeat across their last seven league games, along with two victories and one draw, a negative streak that dropped them down to the eighth place of the Liga Profesional table on 34 points. Barracas Central played one of their best matches in 2023 and celebrated a massive 2-1 home success over league leaders River Plate, with Carlos Arce and Mauro Peinipil finding the back of the net. El Guapo seem to be improving after a sorry start: Sergio Rondina’s men succumbed to a single defeat across their last nine matches in this competition, winning three and drawing five in that time. As a result, they accumulated 27 points in the Liga Profesional table, opening a eight-point gap over the relegation spot in the aggregate rankings. On a sorry note, Barracas are winless in the last nine on the road, having drawn five and lost four since beating Sarmiento 5-3 in week two.
