Argentine Primera Division: Belgrano – Union Odds for May 12, 2026

Belgrano – Union

Belgrano gave their fans enormous joy last Saturday by defeating archrivals Talleres 1-0 on the road in a heated round-of-16 clash, thanks to a goal from Francisco González Metilli in the 48th minute. As a result, El Pirata moved to within just three matches of winning the first official title in the club’s 121-year history. The side coached by Ricardo Zielinski have lost only one of their last five league matches (three wins and one draw). In addition, Belgrano have collected 14 of the 24 points available at home so far in the Torneo Apertura (four wins, two draws, and two defeats). Lucas Passerini is suspended for Tuesday’s match after being sent off against Talleres.

Unión Santa Fe shocked everyone on Saturday night, returning to their best form to defeat Independiente Rivadavia 2-1 on the road—the undisputed best team of the regular season—and advance to the quarterfinals of the Torneo Apertura. As a result, El Tatengue kept alive the dream of winning the first official title in the club’s 119-year history. The side coached by Leonardo Madelón also snapped two negative streaks: four matches without a win overall (two draws and two defeats) and four without a victory on the road, having collected only two of the previous 12 points available in that stretch. All regular starters are available for Tuesday’s visit to Belgrano.

Both teams surprised last weekend when they beat rivals that are on paper were better, and while it’s very difficult to know what to expect here, I do think that we should see at least a couple of goals. Union’s attack was on fire on Saturday, and most Round of 16 matches were open games where a team scored and the other one was taking big risks, so I’ll go for the OVER here.
