Barracas Central – Independiente

Barracas Central are experiencing a great recovery since coach Alfredo Berti’s arrival. Following their 2-1 home success over Sarmiento (at Huracan), the team made it three wins in a row to accumulate nine points in the Copa Liga Profesional and also climbed out of the relegation zone. Furthermore, El Guapo won their last two home matches in this competition (they had beaten Aldosivi in round five).

Meanwhile, Independiente continue to struggle. Two weeks ago, the team suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 home defeat to arch-rivals Racing Club after conceding in the 85th minute. Therefore, they are now on five league matches without a win (four stalemates and one loss), which means they remain on seven points in as many games in the Copa Liga Profesional, five behind the last playoff spot in group B. On away turf, Eduardo Dominguez’s men collected only two points from nine on offer so far.

I expect an open game here between this improved Barracas and an Independiente that must win.
