Barracas Central – Boca
Barracas Central let a big opportunity slip away last Monday, drawing 2-2 away to Tigre after conceding a goal in the 93rd minute, despite playing with a man advantage. As a result, El Guapo have now gone five league matches without a win (four draws and one defeat) and have dropped out of the Copa Sudamericana spots in the overall table. However, they remain in the playoff zone in Group A with 18 points. At home, Barracas have earned only two points from the last nine available.
Boca Juniors took a big step backward last Saturday, suffering an unexpected 2-1 home defeat to Belgrano in Claudio Úbeda’s debut as head coach. With only one win in their last five matches (two draws and two losses), El Xeneize have fallen out of the playoff spots in Group A (sitting on 17 points) and also dropped out of the Copa Libertadores qualification places in the overall table. Boca have been inconsistent away from home in the Clausura Tournament, with two wins, two draws, and two losses.
With only 4 games left Boca needs to win to jump back into the playoffs zone of Group A and also to get back the 2nd place of the anual table that would give them a spot in next year’s Copa Libertadores. Barracas has slowed down lately so even though Boca has not been exactly reliable, this looks like a good opportunity for them to get a very needed win.
