Banfield vs Lanus
Banfield played one of their best games in the Liga Profesional last Wednesday, when they managed to beat River Plate 2-1 away thanks to goals from Alejandro Cabrera and Julian Palacios. Thanks to that success, El Taladro are now on three league games unbeaten, having won two and drawn one to accumulate 25 points in 19 rounds. As a result, El Taladro are now near the Copa Sudamericana places in the aggregate table, trailing the last qualifying berth by two.
Lanus played better last time out, but they couldn’t get a better result. The 1-0 home defeat to Boca Juniors on Wednesday means the team remain bottom in the league table, having grabbed only 11 points, and are also sitting into the last spot in the aggregate rankings. Frank Kudelka’s men are now winless in their last four Liga Profesional matches, having drawn one and lost the last three. Furthermore, Lanus haven’t claimed any victories in their last 20 away games in domestic action (six draws and 14 losses).
Banfield comes from a huge win and they should be in their best mood for this big derby against a very poor Lanus.
