Banfield showed a great display of effort to beat River Plate 3-1 at Independiente last Tuesday when coach Javier Sanguinetti made his debut. In spite of having conceded first, the team managed to break a six-game winless run of three draws and three defeats. Banfield striker Luciano Pons remains sidelined due to his muscle issues, but Agustin Urzi overcame an ankle injury and is available. Coach Javier Sanguinetti will repeat the XI.
Godoy Cruz’s boss Diego Martinez had a sorry debut last Monday when El Tomba lost 2-1 away at Rosario Central in a hard-fought match. That result made it two consecutive defeats in all venues for El Tomba. The slump in Rosario also stopped the side’s two-game winning run on their travels as Godoy Cruz had beaten Velez Sarsfield and Newell’s Old Boys before Mario Sciacqua’s departure. Godoy Cruz coach Diego Martinez has a full squad to pick from on Saturday, including Ian Escobar, who has arrived from second-tier side San Martin SJ.
If Banfield plays 50% of what they played last week against River, they shouldn’t have any problems to beat this poor Godoy Cruz.
