Banfield – Central Cordoba

Banfield had a terrible night last Tuesday and suffered a devastating 3-0 home defeat to Defensa y Justicia after being dominated from beginning to end. El Taladro made it three consecutive league games without a win (drawing one and losing two in that spell). As a result, they remain on ten points in the Liga Profesional table, just three above bottom-placed Union Santa Fe. To make matters worse, Banfield are now on two losses in a row at Estadio Florencio Sola.

CA Central Cordoba were close to securing another win last time out but they finally had to settle for a 1-1 home draw against Lanus despite having taken the first lead. However, the team are experiencing good form lately: they are unbeaten in their last three games (two victories and one stalemate) and accumulated 15 points in the Liga Profesional, which allows them to hold a healthy six-point gap over the first relegation spot in the point-average table, occupied by Sarmiento. Central Cordoba won at Defensa y Justicia 2-1 in their last away game after two draws and two losses on the road this term. There is no injury news for coach Leonardo Madelon to visit Banfield on Monday.

Banfield has been just awful and without Alejandro Cabrera in midfield they will be even worse so I’ll trust Central Cordoba to take something from this game.
