Atletico Tucuman vs Velez
After the departure of coaches Sergio Gomez and Favio Orsi, Atletico Tucuman showed improvements last Monday under interim boss Diego Barrado. However, they were ineffective up front and drew 0-0 away at CA Central Cordoba. El Decano extended their winless streak to eight league games (four stalemates and four losses) and made it just four points in the Copa Liga Profesional, only two above the bottom spot in the aggregate table. At home, Atletico haven’t claimed any victories in their last five, drawing three and losing two.
Velez Sarsfield wasted a big chance of climbing into the playoff zone in group A as they registered a 2-2 home stalemate against Tigre despite having taken a 2-0 lead at one point. El Fortin are now on 11 points in the Copa Liga Profesional after four matches unbeaten (winning three and drawing one since losing to River Plate 5-0 away in round four). In fact, Velez managed four points on away turf in this competition as a product of one victory, one draw and one loss. Defensive midfielder Santiago Caseres remains sidelined due to a knee problem.
Atletico are still winless this season after 7 rounds but this can’t last forever. They’ve been usually a strong home team and here they will face this irregular Velez that wasted a 2 goals difference at home vs Tigre last week, and are usually poor playing away.
