Atletico Tucuman vs River
Atletico Tucuman played their best game of the season by far last Monday, when they celebrated a surprising 3-1 away victory at Racing Club following a great display of effort. El Decano put an end to their six-match winless streak of five draws and one defeat in league action and also made it 13 points in as many matches in the Liga Profesional, opening a five-point gap over bottom-placed Union Santa Fe.
River Plate continue to walk towards a new league title. On Sunday, the team haven’t found any difficulties to claim a solid 2-0 home success over Independiente and hold their six-point gap over second-placed San Lorenzo at the top of the league table (33 to 27). In fact, El Millonario extended their impressive run to eight consecutive wins in league action with no goals conceded. On away turf, they won the last five in the Liga Profesional (since losing to Belgrano 2-1 in round two). Enzo Perez and Enzo Diaz have both reached the yellow-card limit last time out and are suspended for Friday. Paulo Diaz, affected by a muscle problem, will miss out. Coach Martin Demichelis will pick a mostly alternative XI here ahead of next Tuesday big Copa Libertadores match at Fluminense in Brazil.
River has been incredibly solid with 8 consecutive league wins and they are clearly the main candidates to win the championship, but here they will rest some regulars ahead of their important game next Tuesday and Atletico who are coming from a big win at Racing should be able to at least hold to a draw.
