Atletico Tucuman vs Newell’s
Atletico Tucuman seem unstoppable at the moment. Last Sunday, the team managed to beat Independiente 1-0 away (at Platense) thanks to a goal from Augusto Lotti in the first minute of the game. As a result, the team made it five wins in a row without even conceding and 22 points in the Liga Profesional, which places them as the only league leaders, two points above second-placed Argentinos Juniors. In fact, El Decano are on 13 league games unbeaten (seven victories and six draws).
Meanwhile, Newell’s Old Boys seem to be going through a mini crisis after an excellent start. Last Monday, they suffered an unexpected 2-1 home defeat to Defensa y Justicia in an intense match. That result means La Lepra are now on five league matches without a win, drawing three and losing two in that spell. Following this negative streak, Javier Sanguinetti’s men remain on 16 points in the Liga Profesional and stay out of the Copa Libertadores’ spots in the aggregate table.
Atletico Tucuman are leaders and still undefeated, and I think they should be able to take advantage of this Newell’s that can’t recover since losing the derby vs Rosario Central.
