Atletico Tucuman weren’t able to take advantage of playing against ten men for over 50 minutes and suffered a devastating 1-0 away defeat at Belgrano following a poor performance. Therefore, they won only one of their last nine matches in league action, having drawn six and lost two in that time. That streak places them in 26th spot of the league table on 14 points, only five above bottom-placed Union Santa Fe (who hold one game in hand). At home, Atletico have been winless in their last four matches, with three stalemates and one loss in that spell.
Argentinos Juniors produced an excellent comeback last Saturday, when they saved a home point following a 2-2 draw against Independiente after trailing 2-0. However, El Bicho made it four league games without a win (three stalemates and one defeat), finding difficulties to improve an irregular moment of form in domestic action: Gabriel Milito’s men are now on 20 points in the Liga Profesional, which is enough to occupy 11th spot in the league rankings. Argentinos also are winless in the last four on the road in this competition, having drawn three and lost one since beating Tigre 1-0 in early March. Captain Miguel Torren continues to recover from a muscle problem and will miss out again.
Argentinos is clearly the best team of these two but I can’t trust them after how irregular they’ve been in the league so far. Atletico has scored at least once in their last 6 home games but also conceded in 6 of their 7 home games this season, so I’m going with the OVER on this low totals line.
