Atletico Tucuman – Gimnasia

Atletico Tucuman new coaches Favio Orsi and Sergio Gomez couldn’t have had a better debut at the club. On Thursday, the team secured a massive 1-0 away victory at Huracan in a heated six-pointer regarding relegation. El Decano made it two consecutive successes in league action (and three in the last four games, alongside a single defeat) to accumulate 27 points and opened a healthy eight-point gap over their last rivals, who are currently getting relegated via the aggregate table. Furthermore, Atletico hold an interesting three-match winning streak at their own stadium, having beaten Sarandi Arsenal, Godoy Cruz and Union Santa Fe.

Gimnasia LP salvaged an important home point last Friday, when they ended up drawing 1-1 at home against Independiente after netting the equaliser with ten men through a strike from Benjamin Dominguez in the 95th minute. El Lobo are going through an irregular moment of form, having won one, drawn four and lost two of their last seven league games. As a result, they made it 28 points to occupy 18th spot. Gimnasia took only two points across their last four away matches, drawing two and losing two since beating Sarandi Arsenal 1-0 in early May. Striker Cristian Tarragona and left back Matias Melluso will miss at least one more game due to their respective injuries.

Atletico has been strong at home lately, Gimnasia struggles when playing away and they won’t have key player Tarragona, so I’ll go with the hosts here.
