Arsenal vs Velez
Sarandi Arsenal are deflating their performance lately. Last time out, they succumbed to a deserved 1-0 away defeat at Godoy Cruz in an intense game. Therefore, Leonardo Madelon’s men are now on five league games without a win (three draws and two losses). Accumulating 19 points in this competition, the team continue sitting near the relegation zone in the respective table (five points above the first drop spot). El Viaducto won only one of their last five games at home, along with three draws and one loss.
Velez Sarsfield continue to struggle in the league. In the last round, coach Alexander Medina fielded a mixed XI that ended up losing 1-0 to Newell’s Old Boys at home despite having dominated the game for most of the time. El Fortin made it 13 Liga Profesional games without a win (eight stalemates and five losses), which places them in the penultimate spot of the league table on 12 points, only above Lanus. On away turf, Velez have been winless across the last nine in domestic action (drawing five and losing four since beating Colon 2-1 in May). On Wednesday 7, they lost 2-1 away at Flamengo in the return leg of the Copa Libertadores’ semi-finals and were knocked out of the competition.
Velez form is very poor and has to be even worse after the Copa Libertadores elimination. They have 4 games in the next 10 days inclusing a Copa Argentina Quarterfinals match that will be their main priority, so I expect Arsenal not to lose here.
