Arsenal vs Newell’s
Sarandi Arsenal returned to the bottom spot of the Liga Profesional’s table following their 3-0 away defeat to Independiente in round 20. Having won one, drawn two and lost four of their last seven league matches, El Viaducto remain on 16 points, which also dropped them down to the 21st place of the relegation standings. On a positive note, they succumbed to a single defeat across their last six league games, having won two and drawn three of those.
Thanks to a goal from Pablo Perez, Newell’s Old Boys managed their second consecutive victory in the Liga Profesional by beating Union Santa Fe 1-0 at home. In the context of a poor campaign, the team are now showing slight improvements. They made it 23 points in 20 rounds to escape the bottom spots of the relegation table, which is their main aim for the remainder of the season. On a sorry note, La Lepra are on three away games without a win, having drawn one and lost two since beating Lanus in September.
As bad as Arsenal has been this season, I’m willing to give them another chance as they will be at home facing this terrible Newell’s in a game they can win.
