Arsenal vs Gimnasia

Sarandi Arsenal seem to have started to improve once their relegation was confirmed. Last Sunday, the team showed a worthy version to secure a valuable scoreless away draw at Independiente. That result allowed them to make it five league matches unbeaten (winning two and drawing three, accumulating in that span nine of the 12 points they accumulate in total in the Copa Liga Profesional). Arsenal are without defeat in their last four at home, having won three and drawn one since losing to Instituto 1-0 in the opener.

Gimnasia LP couldn’t hold onto their lead and ended losing 2-1 at home to defending champions River Plate despite having played a worthy game. That defeat stopped their five-match unbeaten streak of three victories and two draws and El Lobo remain on 14 points in the Copa Liga Profesional group A, which keeps them threatened by relegation: the side are just two points above the drop spot in the aggregate table with three rounds to go. Gimnasia won their last away match (2-1 over Barracas Central) to break a ten-match winless streak of five draws and five defeats on the road.

Even if Arsenal looks improved since their relegation was confirmed, I have to go here with Gimnasia who will almost secure their place in first division for next year with a win. They’ve looked solid lately despite last week’s defeat against the best team in the league, River, and they should be able to at least avoid a defeat here.
