Arsenal – Velez

Sarandi Arsenal produced an excellent recovery last Monday, when they managed to secure a 2-2 home draw against Lanus after trailing 2-0 at one point. However, that point doesn’t count much for them: the team collected five points in as many games under coach Leonardo Madelon so far and claimed a single victory across the last nine games in league action (four draws and four losses), which places them in the 23rd spot of the relegation table. At home, El Viaducto lost only one of the last seven, winning three and drawing three.

Velez Sarsfield registered a 1-1 home draw against group leaders Estudiantes in an entertaining game last Sunday. As a result, the team extended their winless streak to four league matches, having drawn two and lost two since beating Aldosivi in the season opener. El Fortin are producing an irregular campaign so far, having earned five points in as many games. To make matters worse, Velez took a single point across their last six domestic games on away turf (their last success was at CA Central Cordoba in October).

Velez is definitely not the team they were last season, but they can still score, and Arsenal has scored and conceded in 4 of their 5 games this season, so I definitely expect goals here.
