Argentinos Juniors have been displaced from the playoff zone with only one round to go following their 1-1 away draw at Platense last Monday. Now the team accumulate 22 points and need to beat Union Santa Fe at home and wait for Defensa y Justicia or Newell’s Old Boys to drop points. However, El Bicho are unbeaten in their last four league matches, with two victories and two stalemates in that spell. At home, they grabbed seven points from the last nine on offer since losing to Defensa y Justicia in March.
Union Santa Fe are out of the fight for a ticket to the playoffs after losing 2-1 at home to Defensa y Justicia last Monday. Gustavo Munua’s men made it four consecutive losses in league action and they remain on 17 points in group A. To make matters worse, El Tatengue haven’t claimed any victories in their last seven league matches on the road in the Copa Liga Profesional, drawing two and losing five since they won 1-0 at Sarandi Arsenal in November.
