Argentinos Jrs vs Rosario Central
Argentinos Juniors put up a good fight on their visit to Racing Club last Saturday in a heated clash regarding the tickets for the 2023 Copa Libertadores, but they ended up losing 1-0 after conceding in the 86th minute. Even though their Liga Profesional campaign is still good (with 27 points), Gabriel Milito’s men made it three winless league games (one draw and two losses) and that negative streak means El Bicho are now trailing the last Libertadores’ qualifying berth by five points. At home, Argentinos collected 19 points in nine games in this competition after winning six, drawing one and losing two.
Winger Alan Marinelli’s goal in the first half allowed Rosario Central to take a 1-0 home success over Talleres following a convincing performance last Saturday. As a result, the team put an end to their three-match winless streak of two draws and one defeat to accumulate 22 points in the Liga Profesional. However, El Canalla still have a mountain to climb if they want to qualify for the upcoming Copa Sudamericana. Central have been weak on the road in this competition, registering one victory, three draws and four losses so far.
Could be the last chance for Argentinos to stay close to the leaders and have a shot at the championship, and if they can’t beat this poor Central at home they definitely don’t deserve to be on the top places of the league.
