Argentinos Juniors, 4th placed in 2022, played a worthy game at Rosario Central last time out, but they ended up losing 1-0 after having three goals disallowed in the season opener. As a result, Gabriel Milito’s men remained pointless in the Liga Profesional as they saw their five-match unbeaten streak of two wins and three draws in league action come to an end. On a positive note, El Bicho won their last home match (over Velez Sarsfield 2-0) to clinch their spot in the Copa Libertadores and also break a three-game winless run of one draw and two losses at Estadio Diego Armando Maradona.
Racing Club fans will have felt disappointed after the team’s scoreless home draw against newly-promoted side Belgrano following a poor performance in the season opener. The Trofeo de Campeones’ winners opened up the new season in a sorry way, but they are experiencing good form in general terms, having lost only one of their last ten league games, along with seven victories and two draws.
I expect Argentinos to bounce back from last week’s unexpected defeat and take the win against this Racing that still needs to adapt to some new players.
