Argentinos Jrs – Lanus

Argentinos Juniors claimed a heated derby win on Sunday night, defeating arch-rivals Platense 1–0 at home thanks to a 105th-minute penalty converted by Alan Lescano. As a result, El Bicho extended their unbeaten run to five league matches —two wins and three draws— and climbed into the final playoff spot in Group B with 14 points, despite still having Thursday’s match and another game in hand. In addition, Argentinos stretched their unbeaten home run to 18 matches in domestic competitions, recording 12 wins and six draws in regular time.

Lanús confirmed their excellent run of form on Saturday afternoon by securing a 1–0 away win over Vélez Sarsfield —leaders of Group A thanks to a 71st-minute header from Carlos Izquierdoz. El Granate made it three consecutive league victories and moved up to 18 points in the Torneo Apertura, consolidating their place in the playoff spots in Group A. Away from home, Lanús have taken seven of the last nine available points, with two wins and one draw.

Even if Argentinos Jrs are strong at home and have a long undefeated run at their stadium, I can’t see them as big favorites against Lanus who are one of the hottest teams in the league now with three consecutive wins including one last week that finished Velez’ undefeated streak so I’ll go with them not to lose here.
