Argentinos Juniors succumbed to a heavy blow last Thursday, when they succumbed to a devastating 2-1 away loss at Defensa y Justicia in a direct clash regarding the continental tickets for next season. El Bicho made it three league games without a win, drawing one and losing two in that spell, which means they remain on 23 points after 21 rounds of Liga Profesional action. This campaign is just enough to stay occupying the last Copa Sudamericana berth in the aggregate table, advantaging Lanus by goal difference. On a positive note, Argentinos have been unbeaten in their last seven at home in this competition (three successes and four draws). Francis Mac Allister and Cristian Ferreira are set to return from suspension.

Banfield continue finding trouble to overcome their irregularity. Last Wednesday, the team registered a disappointing 1-1 home stalemate against Belgrano in an uneventful match. That result means El Taladro won only one of their last six league games, along with two stalemates and three losses. Gustavo Munua’s men are now on 22 points in the Liga Profesional, which places them nine points above the bottom spot in the aggregate table. On away turf, Banfield secured a single point across the last nine on offer.

Argentinos has been quite irregular this whole tournament but one thing for sure is that they are strong at home, and I think they should be able to take some important points against this very poor Banfield.
