Argentina Liga Profesional: San Lorenzo – Huracan Odds for July 20, 2024

San Lorenzo – Huracan

San Lorenzo has a lot to improve at the moment. Last time out, the team couldn’t hold onto their lead and succumbed to an unexpected 2-1 away defeat to league leaders Union Santa Fe. The side are now in seven league matches without a win in the Liga Profesional, drawing two and losing five in that time. In fact, El Ciclon collected a single point in this competition (with one game in hand), now occupying 23rd spot in the aggregate table. Furthermore, San Lorenzo managed a single point from the last nine on offer in domestic action at Estadio Pedro Bidegain. Coach Leandro Romagnoli will be missing Agustin Giay (sold to Brazil’s SE Palmeiras) and Adam Bareiro (River Plate). On the other hand, the club signed Matias Reali (Independiente Rivadavia), Nicolas Tripichio (Defensa y Justicia) and Andres Vombergar (returning from UAE’s side Ittihad Kalba FC).

Huracan are one of the best teams in the league right now. In matchday 5, they secured a massive 1-0 home success over Independiente Rivadavia thanks to a strike from Ignacio Pussetto in the first half. El Globo remain as one of the Liga Profesional leaders (along with Talleres and Union Santa Fe) on 13 points and they also made it eight matches without defeat in this competition (six victories and two draws). Huracan won their last away game (2-0 over Barracas Central at Deportivo Riestra) to break a seven-match winless streak of two stalemates and five losses on the road. Coach Frank Kudelka will be missing Ignacio Pussetto, who has been sold to Mexican side Pumas UNAM. Huracan played two friendlies, winning one and losing one. Ramon Abila (from Barracas Central) and Franco Watson (Lanus) are the most relevant signings.

Big derby and for sure one of the most important games of the season for both teams. This is a derby San Lorenzo usually dominates and especially at home where they’ve lost only once to Huracan in 30 years since their new stadium was inaugurated. Huracan is a better team at the moment but they won’t have their best defender, Fernando Tobio, who is injured, and their best player and best striker (and the league’s top scorer right now), Ignacio Pusetto was sold to a mexican club so I’ll go with the hosts to at least avoid a defeat.
