Argentinos Jrs – Tigre

Argentinos Juniors secured three important points in their last league game, beating CA Central Cordoba 2-1 at home thanks to goals from Nicolas Oroz and Jonathan Galvan. El Bicho made it nine points in the Liga Profesional after registering three victories and two defeats in five matches, climbing into one of the Copa Libertadores’ berths in the aggregate table. Argentinos have been unbeaten in their last 11 domestic matches at home, winning nine and drawing two since losing to Instituto in November 2023. The club signed Francis Mac Allister, returning from Rosario Central. Argentinos secured one win, one draw and one loss in friendlies. Luciano Gondou is involved in the Olympics.

Tigre will face a tough task until the end of the season. In MD5, the team had to settle for a disappointing 1-1 home stalemate against Belgrano despite taking the first lead. Therefore, El Matador made it two points in the Liga Profesional and 11 league matches without a win (two draws and nine losses), which keeps them bottom in the aggregate table, four points behind CA Central Cordoba in the fight to avoid relegation. Furthermore, Tigre managed just two points across their last ten away matches. Coach Sebastian Dominguez welcomed Nehuen Paz (from Independiente Rivadavia) and Eric Ramirez (Dynamo Kyiv, Ukraine) in a total of eight arrivals while Kevin Lomonaco left the club to join Independiente.

Tigre won only 1 of 19 games this year and they are looking like a serious relegation candidate. They have 8 new players that might need time to adapt to the team and they will face this strong Argentinos Jrs who are on a great run at home and even though they won’t have their top scorer Luciano Gondou, they will have Maxi Romero back from injury so I have to go with the hosts to win here.
