Velez vs Banfield
Velez Sarsfield failed to win at Rosario Central after taking the first lead last Thursday, but the 1-1 away draw is still good news for them. El Fortin are slightly improving: they suffered a single defeat across their last five matches in league action, winning two and drawing two to make it 14 points in the Copa Liga Profesional so far, missing the playoff zone just by goal difference and holding a three-point gap over the relegation place in the aggregate table. Velez are unbeaten in their last seven matches at Estadio Jose Amalfitani, having won five and drawn two in that spell.
Banfield can’t find the way to overcome their irregularity. Last Monday, the team had to settle for a scoreless home draw against Atletico Tucuman following a poor performance. Even though El Taladro have been unbeaten in their last four league games (one victory and three stalemates), they made it 12 points in nine matches in the Copa Liga Profesional, which places them just four points over the relegation zone in the aggregate table. Banfield won only one of their last six away matches, drawing three and losing two.
Massive relegation game for both, Velez has been strong at home and I’ll trust them here because Banfield has been really struggling to score lately.
