Tigre vs Godoy Cruz
Tigre continue to get worse as the season progresses. Last Thursday, the team succumbed to an unexpected 2-1 away defeat to Lanus (who hadn’t claimed any victories in this competition beforehand). As a result, El Matador extended their winless streak to seven league matches (three stalemates and four defeats). Lucas Pusineri’s men are now bottom in group B on six points and stay only one point above the relegation spot in the aggregate table, occupied by Colon. Tigre are winless in their last five at home in league action, drawing three and losing two. Striker Tomas Badaloni is the only relevant absentee for Tuesday.
Godoy Cruz are one of the best teams in the league at the moment. On Thursday, they managed a solid 2-0 away success at Newell’s Old Boys thanks to goals from Daniel Barrea and Tomas Conechny. Thanks to that victory, El Tomba are now leaders in the Copa Liga Profesional group B on 18 points (alongside Belgrano). They made it 11 league games unbeaten (winning five and drawing six) to remain into the Copa Libertadores’ zone in the aggregate table, three points over San Lorenzo (who occupy the first non-qualifying berth). On away turf, Godoy Cruz are without defeat in the last five (two victories and three stalemates).
Tigre are not only terrible lately, but also they are in the relegation spot with 4 games left and under big pressure which makes things worse, and they still won’t have striker Badaloni who is still injured. Godoy Cruz is a tough solid team, they are fighting to secure a place in the playoffs and Copa Libertadores 2024, and I’ll trust them here to continue with their 5 games undefeated streak away.
