Talleres vs Huracan
Talleres keep their standards up after an excellent campaign in the first league competition of the year. Last Saturday, Javier Gandolfi’s men showed an enjoyable performance despite coping with several absences and beat Gimnasia LP 3-0 away to take their first three points in the Copa Liga Profesional. In fact, they made it seven league games without defeat (three victories and four stalemates) to remain second-placed in the aggregate table, opening a healthy eight-point gap over the first non-Copa Libertadores spot. Talleres also are on nine matches unbeaten at home, winning five and drawing four in that stretch.
Huracan don’t give up on their fight to avoid relegation. Last Monday, the team played a very good game to beat Banfield 2-0 at home in a six-pointer. As a result, Diego Martinez’s men made it three victories in a row in league action without even conceding, a positive run that allowed them to level Independiente and Colon in the aggregate table (all three teams would have to decide who get relegated in a playoff). Huracan won 1-0 at Platense in their last away game to break a 12-match winless streak of three stalemates and nine losses on the road in domestic action.
Talleres played a superb game in the 1st round and I expect them to continue like this against Huracan who won 3 in a row but still have a lot to do to convince and they are under big pressure due to their position in the aggregate table.
