Sarmiento vs Boca
Sarmiento new coach Pablo Lavallen experienced a happy debut at the club as his team started their campaign in the Copa Liga Profesional with a convincing 2-0 home victory over Tigre: new signings Franco Paredes and Diego Calcaterra found the back of the net. El Verde are now on three points in this competition after breaking a six-match winless streak of two draws and four defeats in league action, which also allowed them to make it 33 points in the aggregate table, five above the relegation line. Sarmiento succumbed to a single defeat across their last ten matches at Estadio Eva Peron, winning four and drawing five in that time.
Boca Juniors extended their excellent form last weekend, when they showed an enjoyable performance to beat Platense 3-1 at home in the Copa Liga Profesional opener. Besides taking their first three points, El Xeneize made it seven league matches unbeaten, with six victories and one draw in that spell, and entered the Copa Libertadores zone in the aggregate rankings. Jorge Almiron’s men grabbed seven points from the last nine on offer on away turf in domestic action. On Wednesday 23, Boca drew 0-0 at home against Racing Club in the first leg of the Copa Libertadores’ quarter-finals. Sebastian Villa won’t play anymore at the club and he is looking for another club to join, but the rest of the regulars are available. Coach Jorge Almiron will pick an alternative XI here.
Boca are fully focused on the Copa Libertadores, so they will rest all regulars here and this should give Sarmiento the chance to at least avoid a defeat.
