Sarmiento vs Belgrano
Sarmiento secured a valuable point on their visit to Lanus last Monday, when they focused on defending to hold onto that scoreless away draw. El Verde are on three league games without a win, drawing two and losing one, but they are producing a good campaign in the Copa Liga Profesional, accumulating eight points in group B to keep a five-point gap over the relegation spot in the aggregate table. Sarmiento lost 1-0 to Central Cordoba in their last home match after four games unbeaten at Estadio Eva Peron (two wins and two draws). Belgrano showed great improvements last Thursday, especially in the second half, to claim a necessary 3-0 home success over Platense. Thanks to that victory, El Pirata accumulated nine points in the Copa Liga Profesional, entering the playoff zone in group B. Furthermore, they made it six league games unbeaten (two victories and four draws) to approach the continental spots in the aggregate table: Guillermo Farre’s men are just two points behind Rosario Central, who occupy the last Copa Sudamericana berth.
Belgrano coming from a solid win at home, they should be confident enough to grab something from this game where the hosts won’t have two starters in attack and they couldn’t score a goal in the last two games.
