Sarmiento – Racing
Sarmiento fans will have felt heartbroken following their 1-0 away loss to Union Santa Fe in round eight as the team conceded the only strike of the game in the fourth minute of stoppage time. That result means El Verde are on six league matches without a win (drawing four and losing two). Accumulating ten points in the Copa Liga Profesional so far, Pablo Lavallen’s men are edging closer the relegation zone in the aggregate table: they remain just two points above Gimnasia LP, Huracan and Colon, who are currently sharing the drop place. Sarmiento collected seven points from 12 on offer at home in this competition, winning two, drawing one and losing one.
Coach Fernando Gago’s departure haven’t yet resulted in an improvement for Racing Club: last time out, the team succumbed to an unexpected 2-1 home defeat to Platense following a terrible performance under interim bosses Sebastian Grazzini and Ezequiel Videla. That result represented their third league match without a win (one draw and two defeats) and La Academia remain on 12 points in the Copa Liga Profesional, which means they have been displaced from the playoff spots in group B and remain out of the Copa Sudamericana places in the aggregate table.
Racing are in a completely unreliable moment after consecutive defeats at home, especially after the derby vs Independiente, so I’ll go with the hosts here not to lose as they’ve been solid at home.
