Racing Club vs Platense
Racing Club played one of their worst matches this season last weekend, when they ended up suffering a deserved 2-0 home success in the city derby against Independiente. That result means La Academia are no longer unbeaten in the Copa Liga Profesional (they had won three and drawn three beforehand). The side remain as group B leaders on 12 points. However, following that result, they have been displaced from the Copa Sudamericana spots in the aggregate table again. Coach Fernando Gago left the club right after the last game. The defeat in the derby also put an end to Racing Club’s eight-match unbeaten streak of five victories and three draws at Estadio Presidente Peron in domestic action. Sebastian Grazzini and Ezequiel Videla will take over as interim bosses after Fernando Gago’s departure. There is no relevant injury news at Racing Club to host Platense on Sunday.
Platense produced a worthy performance last Monday and secured an important point against one of the best teams in the league at the moment, drawing 0-0 at home to Argentinos Juniors. El Calamar suffered a single defeat across their last four matches in league action, winning two and drawing one, to make it eight points in group B. That campaign allows them to stay five points above the relegation place in the aggregate table. On away turf, Platense grabbed only two points from the last 18 on offer following two draws and four losses.
I expect Racing to bounce back here from their last week’s defeat at the derby, they will have a poor away team like Platense and even though they are in a transition phase until they find a new coach, they are definitely the best of these to and should win.
