Platense vs Lanus
Platense are experiencing a difficult start in the Copa Liga Profesional. Last time out, the team succumbed to a heartbreaking 3-2 away defeat to CA Central Cordoba, conceding the winner just three minutes before the final whistle. El Calamar remain on a single point in three rounds in group B and made it six matches without a win in league action, drawing three and losing three. Therefore, the side are approaching the relegation spot in the aggregate table: the gap is now just five points with 11 rounds to go. Platense won only one of their last four home matches (one stalemate and two losses), scoring only once in that time.
Lanus wasted a big chance of securing a victory last time out, when they had to settle for a 2-2 home draw against Godoy Cruz after conceding the equaliser in the 95th minute. Therefore, El Granate grabbed their first point in three matches in the Copa Liga Profesional. Having won only one of their last eight in league action (three stalemates and four defeats), El Granate wasted another chance of climbing into the Copa Libertadores’ places in the aggregate table. As a result, coach Frank Kudelka left the club. On away turf, Lanus secured a single point from the last nine on offer. Centre back Jose Canale will serve his second game suspended on Thursday. Striker Jonatan Torres succumbed to a muscle injury and will miss out. Raul Loaiza misses out again. Interim boss Sebastian Salomon will take over on Thursday.
Lanus has conceded in all 3 games this season and will have an interim coach while they try to find a new one, Platense is not exactly a solid team in defense, so I’ll go with the over here on this very low line.
