Lanus vs Racing
Lanus rescued an important point on their visit to Union Santa Fe last Sunday, taking a scoreless away draw with goalkeeper Lucas Acosta in superb form. El Granate continue to improve under recently-appointed coach Ricardo Zielinski: they are now on four Copa Liga Profesional matches unbeaten (winning two and drawing two) since his arrival. As a result, they made it 11 points in group B (occupying the bottom spot) and stay into the Copa Sudamericana zone in the aggregate table. At home, Lanus are on two victories in a row, having beaten Tigre and Belgrano.
Racing Club fans will have felt frustrated after the team’s 1-1 home stalemate against CA Central Cordoba last Sunday as they conceded the equaliser in the 90th minute. La Academia secured a single win in their last seven matches in the Copa Liga Profesional, along with four draws and two defeats. However, they remain occupying one of the playoff spots in group B, accumulating 18 points and managed to enter the last Copa Sudamericana berth in the 2023 aggregate table. Racing are without defeat in their last six away matches in domestic action, but they won only one and drew the other five.
Lanus looks improved lately, they will have striker Lautaro Acosta back and this is a very important game for them as club legend, striker Jose Sand who is Lanus’ all time top scorer, will retire so I expect them to make everything possible for him to score. Racing has been irregular and unreliable, they won’t have their best defender Leonardo Sigali due to injury, and they won’t see a draw as a bad result, but I expect the hosts to take the 3 points at home.
