Instituto vs Rosario Central
Instituto had enough to secure a really valuable 3-1 away success at Huracan last Friday despite conceding first. That result means La Gloria are now on six league games without defeat (winning two and drawing four) and accumulated 14 points in the Copa Liga Profesional, which allowed the newcomers to enter the playoff zone and almost to forget about relegation (as they opened a eight-point gap over the drop spot in the aggregate table with 15 remaining points on offer). At home, Instituto took four points in three matches in this competition as a product of one victory, one draw and one loss.
Rosario Central had to settle for a disappointing 1-1 home stalemate against Velez Sarsfield in a hard-fought match last Thursday. However, they made it three league matches without defeat (winning two and drawing one in that spell), accumulating 12 points in the Copa Liga Profesional so far. That’s not enough to fight for one of the playoff spots in group A, but El Canalla remain occupying one of the Copa Sudamericana berths in the aggregate table. On a sorry note, Central are winless in their last 12 away matches, having drawn six and lost six in that time.
Rosario Central are very different teams at home and away, Instituto is coming from a very solid and important win at Huracan and I expect them to continue like this.
