Instituto vs Gimnasia

Instituto took another step towards securing their spot in the 2024 top flight last Monday, when they drew 1-1 away at Godoy Cruz in a hard-fought match. Having succumbed to a single defeat across seven matches in the Copa Liga Profesional (two victories and four stalemates), La Gloria accumulated ten points in group A to stay five points above the relegation spot in the aggregate table (shared by Gimnasia LP and Velez Sarsfield). Instituto took three points from six available at home in this competition, beating Colon 3-1 and losing to Banfield 1-0 so far.

Gimnasia LP showed a great display of effort to secure a valuable away point last Sunday, when they drew 0-0 at Estudiantes in a hard-fought derby. Despite having lost only one of their last four matches in the Copa Liga Profesional (two victories and one draw to make it seven points in as many matches in group A), El Lobo remain sharing the relegation spot in the 2023 aggregate table with Velez Sarsfield just seven rounds before the end of the season. In fact, Gimnasia made it nine away matches without a win in domestic action (four stalemates and five defeats).

Huge relegation fight game for both, Gimnasia is the one that needs a win the most but neither will see a draw as a bad result. I think they will try to live another day, play a safe game and not take any risks.
