Gimnasia vs Rosario Central
Gimnasia LP couldn’t take advantage of playing against ten men for over 45 minutes and succumbed to a heavy blow last Tuesday: they lost 2-0 away at direct contenders Huracan. As a result, El Lobo remain on three points in five matches in the Copa Liga Profesional. Having won only one of their last 12 league games (five draws and six defeats), they are now occupying the relegation spot in the aggregate table, trailing Colon and Huracan by one. Gimnasia won their last home match (2-1 over Velez Sarsfield) after two draws and three losses at Estadio Juan Carmelo Zerillo in league action. All regulars are at Leonardo Madelon’s disposal to host Rosario Central on Saturday.
Rosario Central continue going through an irregular form in the Copa Liga Profesional. Last Tuesday, the team rescued a home point in a tough game against Independiente, drawing 1-1 after netting the equaliser in the 76th minute. El Canalla accumulated just five points in as many matches in group A, and they remain into the Copa Sudamericana zone in the aggregate table despite having claimed a single victory across their last eight league games (drawing five and losing two). Central are winless in their last 11 away matches, with six stalemates and five losses in that spell. Star player Ignacio Malcorra will miss out after succumbing to a mild muscle problem.
Gimnasia is not exactly reliable now but they will face an irregular Rosario Central that won’t have their best player, so I like the hosts to take here a very needed win.
