Estudiantes vs Sarmiento
Estudiantes continue to perform a terrible campaign in the Copa Liga Profesional. Last time out, the team ended up losing 2-1 away at Platense, Winless in their last three matches in league action (taking a single point from the last nine on offer), El Pincha remain on six points in group B. However, they remain occupying the last Copa Sudamericana berth in the aggregate table, leading Lanus (in 11th) by two points. Estudiantes are yet to win at their own stadium in this competition (two draws and two losses). Centre backs Luciano Lollo and Federico Fernandez will miss out again on Monday.
Sarmiento fans will have felt devastated as the team wasted points in stoppage time again last Thursday, when drawing 1-1 at home against Racing Club after conceding in the 93rd minute. That result means El Verde are without a win in their last seven league matches (five stalemates and two defeats), a negative streak that leaves them on 11 points in group B and just three points above the relegation line in the aggregate table. Furthermore, Sarmiento haven’t claimed any victories in their last nine on away turf (drawing four and losing five).
Can’t trust either of these teams now but I can trust that sooner than later Estudiantes will have to take risks because they really need points now, they won’t have their two central defenders, and Sarmiento have been terrible when playing away and can’t afford a defeat.
