Colon vs Union
Colon continue performing an excellent campaign in the Copa Liga Profesional. Last Monday, they reversed the score to beat Argentinos Juniors 3-1 at home, a result that allowed them to become group A leaders on 12 points as a product of four wins and two losses (alongside Huracan) and, more importantly, to keep their one-point gap over the relegation spot in the 2023 aggregate rankings, shared by Gimnasia LP and Velez Sarsfield. Furthermore, El Sabalero made it three consecutive victories at their own stadium.
Union Santa Fe took a step back on their fight to stay in the top flight last Monday, when they ended up losing 1-0 away at direct contenders Platense in an even game. That result put an end to their ten-match unbeaten streak in league action (two victories and eight draws) and also means El Tatengue are on four without a win in the Copa Liga Profesional (three points from 12 on offer), accumulating seven points in total to stay one point above the relegation berth in the aggregate table, shared by Gimnasia LP and Velez Sarsfield. Union claimed a single victory across their last seven away games, drawing four and losing two in that spell.
Huge game for both, not only because it’s the city derby but also because they are both in the fight to avoid relegation. Colon has been very solid lately, especially at home and their new players have definitely improved them, so I think they should win this very important game at home.
