Colon remain struggling to stay in the top flight. Last Monday, the team ended up succumbing to a heartbreaking 2-1 away defeat to Banfield in a heated six-pointer. Having lost three of their last six Copa Liga Profesional matches (along with a single victory and two stalemates in that spell), El Sabalero are now occupying the relegation spot in the aggregate table, trailing Union Santa Fe by one point with two rounds to go. Furthermore, they have been displaced from the playoff spots in group A, accumulating 17 points. However, Colon are strong at home: they are unbeaten in the last six matches, having won four and drawn two.
Talleres couldn’t hold onto their lead and ended up drawing 1-1 away at Velez Sarsfield in a hard-fought game last Sunday. As a result, the team are now on six Copa Liga Profesional matches without a win (drawing four and losing two). Javier Gandolfi’s men accumulated 14 points in group A, which leaves almost out of the fight to advance to the playoff, but they hold a six-point gap over the first non-Copa Libertadores’ spot in the aggregate table. On away turf, Talleres secured a single point from the last 15 available.
Colon must win here or they could be relegated today, they’ve been irregular but solid at home, and they will face a Talleres that plays for nothing (they have almost secured a Copa Libertadores place), has been terrible playing away and will miss a couple of important starters like Ortegoza and Barticiotto, so I’ll go here with a home win.
